Tuk-tuk around Connaught Place

The smoke cleared a bit today, at least in my neighbourhood, it didn't hurt as much to breathe...  Went for a walk (to get coffee, beer and to look at a few shops).  Here are some pictures from today - I even had a few of the hawks that also like to use the building as a resting/hunting place like the pigeons.

Indian flag in the centre of Connaught Place - you couldn’t see the flag yesterday.

Much less smokey/smoggy view from my room this morning. Anyone you talk to that is from Delhi in/around the hotel, say it is smoke from the farms to the northwest- but the eye and throat burning sensation suggests to me that it is more than smoke. Someone was saying it was the equivalent to smoking 50 packs!! of cigarettes a day.

I tried to get a decent photo of the hawks that hangout on and around the building. They seemed to be playing (this was for you Wen!).

***New add - this is a way better picture of the hawk (not my camera).

And this was a relatively tame tuk-tuk trip from CCI to CP.  Normally they are bit wilder and noisier - it was a calm block.

  1. Should we send a gas mask? We really associate industrial smog with China, not India. Enjoying your posts Jac!

  2. Is it called a Tuk Tuk 'cause it tucks in between the other vehicles? Glad to see the visibility is improving. xo

  3. Hi Jackie,
Finally took time out from arranging Uncle Art's pillows and ice packs. This was just what I needed to put some perspective back into life. He came home on Tuesday and today is his 1 week anniversary. He's really doing well. The air quality in Delhi is scary. Don't breathe any more than you have to.
    love Aunt Mary
